There are some bedtime stories we keep going back to time and time again. The Tiger Who Came to Tea is one of them. It was a huge success when my then 3 year old son received it as a present from his grandmother. The simple fantastical story and the old fashion illustrations were such big hit that we actually went through a patch when Sophie and her mum having tea with the big stripy tiger was the only story acceptable at bedtime. Three years later, this beautiful surreal tale, which has entertained children from different generations since it was published over 30 years ago, not only is still enjoyable but it has become one of my son’s favourite stories to practice reading aloud.

Oh! I remember reading that story!
Thanks for a trip down memory lane.
(I’ll have to pick up a copy for my nephew when we’re in Ireland in April – and maybe my boys will read it to him because it’s too “young” for their bookshelves).
