While I was having a good browse around Instructables I came across a fantastic recycle craft project to do with kids this summer, one that not only is fun but will eliminate all those broken up crayons your kids no longer use and turn them into new crayon shapes.

First gather all the old crayon pieces and remove the paper, then break them up in little pieces and fill the animal shapes moulds (or any shape moulds you like). If you live in a hot country where the sun is strong enough to melt the crayons, leave them out in the direct sunlight for a good few hours until they are completely melted. Suddenly this recycle project has turned into a full green experience using solar power as your main energy source!  If the sun is not strong enough, however, you might have to resort to the microwave or the oven for a quick melt. In this case you will need to use microwave safe or oven safe pots and then poor the melted wax in the moulds and the effect won’t be as good because you won’t obtain the blend colour mix is achieved by a slower melt. To obtain a mix of colours you could poor two or three colours in the same mould and let it cool down. The handling of hot wax must be done carefully by grown up people.
