Top tips for travelling with young kids
Travelling with kids, especially young kids, is hard work but if you are organised it can be a lot of fun and very rewarding. I have always loved travelling and becoming a parent didn’t stop me going places. It just took a little adjusting and off we were on our first trip as a family when Luca was only three months old. I wouldn’t even consider the possibility of leaving him behind with his willing grandparents and now my six year old is probably the most travelled of his little mates. He loves going places especially to countries where people speak a different language; travelling to new places is an adventure where to discover sites, things to do or just people watching. He is very observant of the world around him so he easily picks up on culture differences. It is important to me that he grows up with the knowledge that the world is a big wonderful place to discover little by little with different cultures and for him to experience this variety first hand. Children get excited very easily and they get tired just as quickly, so it is important not to do too many things at once and to entertain them as you go along. I found a great blog about travelling with kids, Delicious Baby, with plenty of tips to entertain your children while travelling without spending a fortune. Debbie at Delicious Baby is the mother of three kids whom she travels with so she knows what she’s talking about and she’s got plenty of tips and travel stories to share. If you are travelling by plane with a young kid make sure you read her article on how to entertain a toddler during a flight.
