Cardboard kid’s set by Riki Watanabe
This carton furniture for kids is extremely modern and in line with today’s demands for eco-friendly products, so it was really surprising to find it was first designed in 1965 by Japanese designer Riki Watanabe. In 2006 the Kid’s Set original design was reproduced by Tokyo’s Metropolitan Gallery and is available to buy at 7140JPY, which converts to about £47.5 (the sterling amount varies according to daily exchange rates). The set comes flat packed and is easily folded into a kid’s table and two stools that fit together like a puzzle to form a cube when they are not in use. The set comes in white, blue, orange and yellow and is made entirely of cardboard, which is resistant enough to support the weight of adults and kids alike.
