Tate Kids: resources online for young artists
The Tate Modern is one of our favourite places, whenever we are in London we wander down to the South Bank and have an early morning visit so we avoid the really busy time. In view of an imminent trip to London I was looking around the Tate Modern website for any interesting exhibitions and I was completely sidetracked by the amazing online activities for kids. There is a whole section dedicated to games, which is clearly aimed to improving kids’ creativity. Children are encouraged to send their work in for competitions or to actually create online. I was particularly impressed with the Street Art game; children create their own graffiti online using the same techniques used by street artists, once finished the work can be saved to the online gallery. Another clever game is My Imaginary City that allows kids to create their imaginary world using the online resources including a choice of sceneries, roads, buildings and bridges. There are also a lot of ideas for art projects to do at home, which are based on real artists, with step by step instructions like the Sunset in a Box. Tate Kids is a fantastic learning resource for children creativity.
