Ecofabulous bags from Brazil
The most inspiring post I have read this week is about making fabulous designs from objects that are usually regarded as waste by Karen at The Rubbish Diet who shared her fabulous bag made out of ring pulls and unveiled the great charity behind it.
This bag and other similar items are made in Brazil as part of the Ring Pull project that started in 2007 from the collaboration of Bottletop’s Oliver Wayman and Luciano Dos Santos from Brazil aimed to take people out poverty by training them to make products that the charity would in turn buy from them. This particular project is directed at people in Brazil and is part of the Bottletop charity that aims to reduce poverty in developing countries all over the world. So far the Ring Pull Project has made and sold over 3000 products made by Brazilian residents who were trained to make great ecofriendly products. The process is simple, but very effective.
After the first stage of separating the good ones from the damaged ones, the ring pulls are split according to colour and washed. They are then ready to be turned into belts, purses or bags.
