After escaping the huge heat wave that hit Southern Europe last week, with temperatures rising to the high thirties, here we are back in sunny Sardinia. Yesterday we enjoyed a day at the beach and today it is business as usual. The little one is at his morning summer camp on the beach and I am trying to catch up with my work.  As for last week we enjoyed a much fresher British weather, which apart from the sporadic showers was very welcome. Fresher temperatures are not all we enjoyed.  Luca and I have been very busy taking in as much culture as possible, something we do whenever we visit the capital. Amongst the kids’ friendly activities we tackled another trail at the British Museum. The British Museum is such a great place to visit, but its magnitude is too much to take in for a child so we have been visiting it in stages. The selection of kids’ trails is wide. Each one focuses on a specific area. Not only they keep children’s interest alive, but they make each visit fun and adventurous so kids naturally want to go back for more. This time we did Sailing on the Nile, which covers the Egyptian section of the museum. It was fun and educational with just enough information to satisfy kids’ curiosity. Only I have a particularly curious child so I found myself looking for the stored data inside my head to answer his many questions. The Egyptian section is one of the most popular parts of the Museum so it was very busy with tourists and schoolchildren. The estimated time for the trail is usually half hour, although we take our time so it is normally closer to the hour mark, but it took us an hour and half to complete this particular one.

As well as the trails, the British Museum offer a range of themed backpacks filled with kids’ activities, quizzes and games related to a specific museum’s area. Both the trails and the backpacks are available from the Library, which is through the big doors on the right as you enter the museum.
