Monday crafts: caterpillars made out of egg cartons
During an attempt to put some order in my son’s bookshelves at the weekend we revisited some of the books from his early childhood. It was a fun exercise and I found myself filling with pride while I listened to my little boy all grown up reading those books that I used to read to him not so long ago. Old time favourite, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, inspired our weekend craft. We made two colourful caterpillars out of egg cartons, paint and a straw.
First we cut the carton in half and refined the caterpillar shape; we then painted them green and waited until dry before painting the yellow spots on. A fine juice straw cut in small pieces makes the antennae.
Oh these are cute! I love your caterpillars. You know what is REALLY annoying? Many UK egg carton boxes dont have that “very distinct” egg carton bit, they kind of merge a little… grrr… you have to buy the “right brand” if you want to craft. How silly is that!!! But I like you caterpillars and we will make some – I bet Red Ted will enjoy counting them too…..
Thanks for linking up!!

I can’t wait to sit with my Big M and read books I’ve read to him. I bet he felt very big!
Yes, it was a very proud moment for both of us:)
