Monday Crafts: monkey mask made with recycled packaging
Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson is a great book that inspired many crafts and games in our house. In addition to the
animals and palm trees we made along the way, we started making masks with recycled objects. The first mask is obviously a monkey, which we made with a cereal box, a Popsicle stick and crayons. We flattened the box and with the help of a plate we traced a perfectly round shape in the inner part of the box – the part without images. We continued by drawing the eyes and the shape of the mouth; we then cut the excess cardboard and the two holes for the eyes. To complete the look we coloured the mask with crayons and attached the ears with glue and a Popsicle stick to hold the mask up. Alternatively you could make two tiny holes at the side and feed an elastic band through to hold the mask closer to the face.
