Baking with kids: geography pie
My son loves baking and helping me in the kitchen so some months ago we made a jam pie. I must admit we didn’t make the pastry from scratch; it is straight out of a pack so this recipe is not particularly difficult but it is creative as we made the top of the pie the shape of the island where we live. As some of you know we live in Sardinia an Italian island on the Med and that is what it looks like on a map. We traced the shape from a map and cut it out of baking paper; we then placed our shape on top of the pastry and cut around it.
To make a geographical pie you need enough pastry for the bottom and another sheet for the geographical shape to lay on top of the jam or fruit or whatever you choose to put on your pie.
