First sewing project: new bedroom curtains

Submitted by on May 16, 2013 – 1:52 amOne Comment

For someone who started the year wanting to take on sewing projects I have not done that well so far, but I finally got going with it. To start with I made some curtains for my son’s bedroom that has recently had a makeover. In fact a few months ago he announced his bedroom was too young for him now that he’s all grown up and that Nemo, animal decals and kiddy stuff is something from the past. He thought a British rock theme would be more appropriate. So we said goodbye to the repurposed Nemo desk that used to be a Nemo cot so lovingly made by my husband and replaced it with a metal frame table with a frosty glass top picturing the world map and the world clocks. We took down the animal print curtains and replaced them with the ones I made from a lovely fabric I bought in John Lewis featuring the Union Jack in various colours.

We also painted the flag on his wardrobes and the rug, which used to have a lovely image from the Disney movie Cars, has been replaced by a more age appropriate one featuring the Rolling Stone logo.
