Rainbow bottle tutorial

Lately I have been collecting glass bottles because I like to decorate them and turn them into pretty vases. This week I would like to share this rainbow bottle I made for St Patrick’s Day. To decorate it I used tissue paper in all 7 rainbow colours, glue, masking tape, black paint and string.

  1. Divide the bottle in 7 parts by applying masking tape alternating the lines horizontally.
  2. Cut strips of tissue paper for each of the colour, some colours will require more than one layer. It is best to cut the strips to size.
  3. Paint glue on the glass and attach the strips one by one starting from the bottom up, removing the tape as you move up. Paint more glue on the paper for a good finish.
  4. Once the layers are all on, leave it to dry.
  5. Mix black paint with glue and paint fine lines between the colours.
  6. Cut 6 pieces of string, dip them in glue and wrap each one around the bottle where you have just painted the black lines. Make sure they stick well all around and leave to dry.
