Alphabet Bingo and Animals Wordsearch

Submitted by on November 12, 2010 – 7:09 amOne Comment

Last month I wrote about a game I made to help my son with his English spelling. The Alphabet Bingo with hidden animal names was intended to have two levels of play; a beginner level for children who are learning English as a foreign language to get used to the sounds of the ABC and a harder level for English kids and bilingual speakers. The easy stage of the game is a straight forward Alphabet Bingo and the advanced level is a word search with scrambled letters in no particular order. However I realized it was too hard for 7 year olds to find the words with the letters all mixed up so when I made a digital version of the game I changed it a little to make the word search easier. The letters of each hidden word are next to each other. Every direction counts, the only rule is that each letter within the word is linkable to the next. The same letter can be used for multiple words. Each card contains at least two hidden animal names.

I have made more printable work sheets including the months of the year, weather words and the image led spelling game, which I have already posted about here. More games are on the pipelines including an image bingo for little ones and lots more so keep an eye on the Work Sheets section of Elefante A Pois on the right hand bar for new games. The blog on the site is in Italian as it is intended as a resource for Italian parents to help their kids learning English, but all the games are in English and are suitable for English speaking kids.

Happily shared with the Play Academy.
