How to make simple maracas
After an elaborate kind of craft, today we have something much simpler, which not only is suitable for kids of all ages, but it is also a lot of fun to make and to use. We made a couple of maracas with the plastic containers you find inside the Easter eggs with a surprise. We filled the container with old pasta shells – but you can use beans or anything that rattles – and covered the whole container with paper tape. The tape holds it together firmly and makes for an ideal surface to decorate. Normally we use acrylic paint, but this time we kept it really simple and used coloured markers instead. To make them more durable we sealed them with water based varnish.

What a brilliant idea & one that schools would easily be able to use! Thank you so much for linking to the Resource Centre & I hope to see you again!

I also love the decoration! Very cute!
Great idea. It’d be fun to make a set of them with different fillings to hear what different sounds you could make. Lovely to see you at the Play Academy as always x
