Here we are settling in a new Country…
After a long silence here I am again! The last few months have been such a roller coaster and we’re not off it yet! But things are slowing down a bit now. No, we have not been at an amusement park all this time, but we have been relocating and let me tell you it seems easier said than done when you are settling into a country like Spain where bureaucracy is still very deeply ingrained in the system. Being Italian, I should be used to red tape by now, but let me tell you one thing; firstly you never get used to it you can only get used to dealing with it and of course speaking the language does help. So amongst all the confusion a move like this entails I have been learning Spanish, even though in Barcelona the official language is Catalan, but if you speak Spanish you can get by just fine. Last week was all taken up by getting my son settled into school, which went very well. He loves it here, he likes the school and he’s already made friends in class. I suppose it wasn’t too much of a culture shock as he speaks Italian so he understands both Catalan and Castellan. For the moment we are enjoying the culture, the weather and the sports.
I still have a few things left to do before I can finally relax and get on with my projects, I will keep you posted on the progress!
