Kids artwork upcycle
It seemed only yesterday that I was decorating my son’s bedroom with cars drawings, owls and all those cute things that young boys like. We already made some changes to his bedroom last year after he pointed out that a Nemo desk and animal curtains were not quite becoming of a ten year old. They got replaced with union jack curtains and a frosty glass top desk with a stylised image of the world in black and white. Slowly the art works on the walls came down, but I could not bring myself to give them away when we moved last September. Now we are making new decorations for his bedroom using some old things as a base. He has a growing passion from music and British rock, so a Rolling Stone icon was a must on the wall.
We made it using an old canvas, which we covered with newspaper cuttings by gluing them on in layers. Then we white washed it. Finally we drew the famous Rolling Stones logo on a piece of newspaper, and painted it with acrylics. Once dried, we cut out the shape and glue it on the canvas as a final layer.
